Wish we could have gone. It wasn't anyone's fault. We didn't go because there was a lot of smoke reported in the area. When we checked Air Now, the Camp Sherman area was in the Unhealthy range.

Flat and clear campsites with a vault toilet nearby to all campsites and very little traffic.

This was our third time camping here and we always enjoy the sites. With the fire danger at “extreme” I was surprised campfires were still allowed, we saw a couple of different sites with fires. Also, we were surprised that our neighbors had multiple cars including one with a tent on top, I thought the rule was one car per site. We came to escape fireworks for our nervous dog and it was quiet so that was really great.

Riverside has been one of my favorite campgrounds for 20 years. Quiet and spacious and always great spots to put your chair in the Metolius on a hot day with a good book. My only frustration is that most reserved sites are never occupied. If you’re lucky, you’ll get site 16 which is the best! You have to do a bit of work to haul your gear to the site (and the toilets are not close) but worth all the effort!

Exactly as advertised. There is an old well with a pump for water, but wouldn’t dare drink it due to particles in the water.

Spacious camping sites with easy walk in from the toad and, though few are within view of the river, all are within easy walking distance to seemingly endless riverside trail.

Riverside Campground is accessible via Highway 20, located approximately 9.6 miles to the southeast from Sisters, OR. From Highway 20, the campground can be reached by traveling north on Forest Road 14.

Arrival & departure

- Reserved sites must be occupied by the checkout time the day after arrival, or the reservation will be forfeited.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Site types & loops
- Only walk-in tent camping is allowed; RVs and trailers are not permitted.
Utilities
- Campers must bring their own water supply as there is no water available at the campground.
Safety & rules
- Inspect and clean your packs, equipment, and tires to prevent the spread of invasive species before using lakes or trails.
- Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days at a single location, and 28 days total on National Forest lands per year.
- Generator use is prohibited in the campgrounds; however, silent power banks and battery-powered devices are allowed.
Vehicles & parking
- Only one RV is allowed per site; most sites allow one additional vehicle for a fee.
Fires & fuel
- Campfires and charcoal fires may be restricted during hot, dry weather conditions.
