What Guests Are Saying
Blackberry Campground offers a beautiful, quiet setting along the Alsea River, making it ideal for kayaking and swimming, with many shaded campsites. The camp hosts are friendly and maintain cleanliness, enhancing the overall experience for visitors. However, concerns about safety due to fast-moving bicycles, noisy campers, and some management issues have been noted, leading to mixed reviews about the campground's organization and access to the river.

This is a pleasant coast range forest campground is located along the banks of the Alsea River adjacent to Highway 34 (State Scenic Byway). Young folks enjoy playing and fishing in the river during warm weather at the boat ramp. Walkways from individual campsites down to large rock slabs in the river are steep and treacherous and not suitable for older visitors. Many of the campsites are located in the forest and a few are on the edge of a large open grass area. Visiting the beach requires a 20 mile drive to Waldport.

We have been going there over 30 years. We love it. This year the bathrooms(outhouses). We’re not in the best shape. They needed to be emptied and weren’t the cleanest.

This is a lovely campground but this spot #31 is basically in someone's backyard. Best spots are on the river.

Came as a large group and booked #33 to be a bit away from the crowd noise and it was amazing. Will definitely come back.

No Privacy, sites too close to the drive and way too close together. Too close to highway although it wasn't busy. Some campers need to monitor their children's behavior better and one family stayed up until 0300 with music on and talking on the way to the bathroom. Caretaker was not far away but in a hardside, so probably didn't hear. It is a small campground with no real trails so disappointing in that regard--had to go elsewhere for much of a walk.
Plusses--at some sites you can hear the river gurgling, bathrooms were clean, caretaker pleasant.
I don't plan to return to this campground as it doesn't work for me.

Was very noisy during the 4th of July days that we were there. During our first day when we were out someone stole our BBQ that was left near the fireplace. And a little dogbag… many kids.

It's an ok campground, but not great. There's nothing around really except the river, which was fun and had loads of crawdads. But this is right along the road, and you do get some road noise. Also, night one we had an RV start up its generator and run it all evening, drowning out any sounds of nature or peaceful quiet, and the second night we had an extended family with lots of fighting and shouting late into the night. Wouldn't return to this campground.

My wife and I, and my daughter and her family spent two nights at Blackberry. We seemed to be at the peaceful end of the campground, while my daughter and her family were at the noisy end.
Two sites next to my daughters site combined to have a loud gathering until about 01:00. While the adults were sitting around the fire drinking, their kids were running rampant, creating a lot of noise. Sadly the "quiet time" hours were not enforced.
When I went to dispose of my dishwater in the sump provided, the sump overflowed and gray water went everywhere. Tried some of the other sumps, and same result. Does not appear they have been maintained properly.
Campground host did not appear to be the friendliest - he stayed on his chair outside his trailer for most of the time. Contrast this to a previous stop in Oregon where the campground host was very friendly, would stop to chat, and took an interest in ensuring his campground was well maintained.
I was under the impression that a day use area was just that - day use. On our second night at Blackberry there were a bunch of people camped in the day use area, including a truck camper, and some tents.

The sites are very open. There is no privacy between sites. The campground was nice and clean and the people there were nice.
