This trip was planed and prepped for, for some time, it was me and my two adult sons, my oldest son got the site across the road from me, I had the camper and he had his 25' pontoon boat. We drove 2 hour's, and reserved two camp sites, the camp sites were beautiful, well worth the drive, but and here is the but I wish we would have known that there was no potable water, I did not notice the sign before filling my camper water tank. Now I have that problem. We had some bottled water, but could have used more.
I do know what is wrong with the water. Not something easily fixed, and probably will remain this way for the foreseeable future. Something that would be helpful is if there could be a water buffalo with potable water available for people to fill their camper tanks, or water jugs, or at least bottled water available for sale.
It would help to recommend on the web site fill your camper before before coming, or stalking up on bottled water.

Larger sites with plenty of "privacy" in surrounding trees. No water, no sewer, 30 amp power (in site 15). Some effort to level but not bad. Too narrow for a Class A motorhome in my opinion, better for shorter/smaller truck & trailer RVs. Entry road up to sites is rough, as previous reviewers suggested, but I didn't bottom out etc. No check-in personnel or procedure. Just go straight to your site per your reservation. I didn't see a Ranger or attendant in the 3 days I was there. Lake is beautiful. 12 miles to St Marys PA. and the PA BDR-X for Adventure Motorcycle riders. I will definitely go back again.

Very quiet, laidback. Unless you have a boat not much to do. Relax, walk.

We loved it there. We liked that it was remote and did not have a lot of amenities

This campground is excellent. Clean and quiet. Take a walk down to the dam it’s worth the stunning views. The campground is located in the best spot to explore surrounding areas.
I will say that they changed the numbers of the sites and did not update the website, to warn returning campers that sites have changed. So make sure your pictures match your previous trips.

East Bank Campground was a very nice and peaceful COE campground. We were in site number 8 and set pretty high up on the hill (second to the last going up.) It was a little precarious getting to the site because we went around the loop from the lower righthand road and we came out right in front of our site; we got our MH turned around and backed right in. The interior roads are paved but did feel a little tight in a 35 pulling a toad (I know I should have unhooked first.)
The spot needed little leveling and our jacks took care of the little that it did need. The site was long enough for our 35’ and very wide, enough so that we could park our toad sideways in front. We had the typical fire ring, picnic table, and light pole. The pad itself was pea gravel, and I’d estimate there was 75% shade overhead. The electricity was stable after the first night of power outages due to severe thunderstorms.

Now there was no check-in process or camp host for direction or advice. We only saw maintenance men twice and no rangers; there were no issues, but it would have been nice to see one drive by once and a while.
There is a huge lake/ reservoir for boating and fishing and general recreation. The launch area seemed easy to navigate. The town of St. Mary’s it’s about 12 or 13 miles south and there is everything you would need for resupply.

The only detractor was the dump station. It’s on a grade so all your liquids would be at the other end of the tanks (at least on my rig), so I turned around and approached the other way and I had to use my 15’ hose run underneath the camper; it all worked out, but there did seem like any other place to put it in the campground. The dumpsters are right by the dump station as well as a little visitor/nature center.

Regardless of the dump station location, this is a great little campground and we’d come back again for a quiet restful stay.

We love staying at East Branch! The campground is clean and small. We love going to the dam for a walk and sitting and watching the boaters. The highlight is always the exploratory building! The US Army Corps workers are so knowledgeable and interact so well with our kids/grandkids. It’s so interesting and full of hands on fun! Even the adults love it!
While staying there we always recommend The Dam Inn! Delicious food and great atmosphere. We love sitting on the deck.
Each year we also take the trip to see the elk, visit Jack Bells and Lillian’s in Kane, stop by Brickyard Creamery in Johnsonburg, and explore the area.
