This campground needs a host for me to feel safe camping there. There used to be lot of drive through traffic. The host there now is excellent! He seems to have slowed down the non-camper traffic. Love camping and riding at Whetstone!

This is a great place to camp with your horses. Miles of trails and river crossings. The trails on the SC side of the Chatooga river are well maintained, trails on the GA side not so much! There is a beach type area at Earl's Ford crossing that provides a place to enjoy the river in the heat of the day. Earl's Ford is also a great place to take your horses swimming. The campground is semi primitive with water access between sites and 2 toilet facilities, one at each end of the camp. There is no electric or a bathhouse. There is a large day parking area next to the campgrounds. Overall, it's a great place to camp and ride.
