Heartland RV Resort & Cabins ®

This was our family's first spot to camp in our travel trailer for our Great American Road Trip of 2026 this past week. We picked this RV park as it was perfectly positioned between the Black Hills and the Badlands. Both of which were all in our trip plans. We departed our home in Denver on Sunday about 1pm and arrived about 7:30 pm that evening. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an incredibly friendly and full of helpful information staff. We settled in the travel trailer and rested comfortably for the rest of the evening. The next day we went out on our adventures into the Badlands. But once we came back that evening, it was hot and we took advantage of the very clean swimming pool and hot tub. The showers were impeccably clean. The washers and dryers were a huge bonus. This place has everything you need for your vacation plans in this area of South Dakota. We highly recommend them. The only warning I would give is that you better hope you don't get a wind storm. Wind storms in that region are no joke. But of course the weather is completely out of the control of Heartland RV park. But if they could control it, they would make it a beautiful sunny day and 78 degrees everyday. When we come back to SD, we will definitely stay here.

We stayed at the campground and our site was perfectly level with full hookup. There was was a wonderful bathroom with showers and laundry facilities very close to us. The facilities were so clean every time you went in. I met the cleaning staff and they were very conscientious about their work. There was free musical entertainment Friday and Saturday night and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch & dinner. What more could you ask for!
When you check in, you are given an extensive list of all the local places of interest and their distance from the campground. Also, we found their rates to be very reasonable.

Wow, what a GREAT RV resort. Very clean park. From the restrooms to the office to the pool to the dog park, everything was perfect. There is even lush green grass in the dog park, unbelievable.
All the staff is phenomenal. The clubhouse with restaurant and live entertainment and activities was great. Really enjoyed the bands, great music.
Couldn't get a better location to all the local amenities. We were in an RV and our kids and grandkids stayed in a cabin. Had reserved our spots for 5 nights and had so much fun we extended our stay 5 more.
That says a lot being we are fulltime RVers for the last 7 years. We visit the Black Hills every year and will definitely be back to Hartland RV Resort again.

This place was awesome. Pool was small but the water was crystal clear and warm. Restrooms and showers were VERY clean. Laundry room was supplied, clean, and everything worked. Event center always had an evening activity which was fun and they had a bfast/lunch/dinner menu which made things easy. The staff was super friendly and very hospitable. Special shout out to MARK who at the event center who was very nice and made us feel welcome!! If I ever swing through South Dakota again I will make sure to stay here!

We absolutely loved this place! The staff were amazing and friendly and helpful. Thank you to Jim, Dale, Mark, Jeanine, Big Ray and everyone else there who made our stay so pleasant and welcoming.

The food is also fantastic! Get the fried pickles with bbq sauce (trust me)!

The bathrooms and laundry services are clean and efficient. The cabins are sweet and well ventilated.

The fridges were clean and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

They’re also pet friendly (we have a service animal, so we can stay in any of the cottages, but they have specific pet friendly cabins for people who want to bring their fur babies).

There is also an activity that is hosted at the event hall every day, and once again the staff made it incredibly fun and entertaining. They were also very knowledgeable, considering some of them had not even been in South Dakota for very long. We really felt like we were getting a taste of the town! Hermosa is well situated within reach of everything you could want to do in South Dakota. Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park being just a short drive away.

All in all, we had a wonderful time and will definitely visit again. We will also recommend to any friends and family who wished to visit to stay at heartland RV Park.
