About Defeated Creek Park

Defeated Creek Park Campground sits along the banks of Cordell Hull Lake on the Cumberland River System, just seven miles from Carthage, Tennessee. The lake was named after Cordell Hull, a politician that was born in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. We love Defeated Creek Park. It’s a beautiful, picturesque place. The facilities are clean, the shelter was nice, the wildlife is plentiful.

Always an excellent campground. Clean, well groomed and maintained.
Only negative is after all these years no real way to rinse black water tank. This is a minor inconvenience.

Friendly staff. Nice big sites for the most part. Roads nice for biking. Twisty road coming in via Gainesboro. We didn't find much in Carthage. The scenic overlook had a great view. Too rainy to try the trail. Pizza available @ the marina. Enjoyed kayaking.
