I’ve been going to Defeated Creek for 23 years and have always loved it. This year was very disappointing. The beach has absolutely NO sand. It’s only rocks, clay and tree roots. Trying to get into the water was dangerous due to the clay being so slippery. The kids had to play in the boat area to find some sand, which can be dangerous. I’ve also never seen this many skunks, they were everywhere after dark. Sitting at the campfire was difficult due to the skunks coming up under the camper and wouldn’t leave. One of our dogs was sprayed even though the dog was leashed and we were trying to get away from the skunk. I love this campground but it is not being kept up to the standards it has always been over the years. The one positive is that more sites are being upgraded to 50 amp, which is great. Now if some upgrades could happen to the beach so kids could play in some sand and not get sprayed by skunks, that would be great. I would be happy to provide pictures of the “beach” if you need the proof.

We love Defeated. The campgrounds are pristine, the Hosts are friendly and helpful and the water is divine. This is our summer home away from home!

Campsites are big and easy to get in and out of. Love the beach swimming area.

We love staying at Defeated Creek. It is our go-to spot multiple times per year since 2018.
The only reason that I did not give it five stars is the number of skunks that have made there home there. Over the last three seasons, they have multiplied. We would see multiples outside our camper between 8:00 PM and 5:30 AM. The week after we left, we were told that in less than a week of us leaving eighteen had been trapped and relocated. I am thankful that the park is working to resolve this, but it does impede us being outside after dark or in the early morning when we enjoy watching the water.
The only other thing that we would love to see is an option to purchase wifi even if an additional fee per night so that we could keep a check on the weather and be able to use our phone.

Love the area and have always loved camping here but the campground is over run with skunks and the beach is in disrepair.

This is one of our favorite parks. We were on lake side site. Beautiful sunsets across Old Hickory Lake.

Defeated Creek is a beautiful location. We had group activities among our group with lots of laughs. It was quiet at night and lots of fun during the day. My site had a water leak so my site was a bit messy. I left a day early because it was messy but I did get reimbursed for the early departure which was surprising.

Campground and site was meticulously maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. Having plenty of grass to play with dog was great. direct kayak access was perfect. Definitely would return
