We love camping here, the spacioius sites and beautiful lake.
I wish they would install screen doors in the restrooms as there are too many bugs and spiders coming in.

Our state wide camping club "Volunteer State Campers" met for a week long get together. It was HOT but we had a gathering for a potluck breakfast and another for a dinner together. The park has spacious sites and ample room to play yard games near your camp site. Some members kayaked, fished. Swan in the lake. Played games at night under the pavilion. Great time had by all!

We really enjoyed our visit at Defeated. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well supplied. While walking around the park, we noticed how clean the park was. This was our second visit here and we will come back.

•Beautiful area with lots of wildlife
•Would be nice if all sites had sewer
•Difficult to get TV reception on antenna, and cell service was minimal (Verizon--could sometimes make a call and send/receive a plain text with only words, but no cellular data service was available, so no emojis, no picture texts, and no streaming of any kind); therefore, good WiFi throughout the park would be great--especially to check weather radar (we had a bad storm pop up and no way to know it was coming or how big/bad it was or how long it would last)
•Bath houses were fairly clean, but very, very dated (avocado green hand dryers on the walls from the 1970s color palette, toilets with flusher handle mounted separate up high on the wall above the toilet); no air conditioning in bath houses, so they were pretty unbearable in the late July heat & humidity--even with the doors open; no soap in dispensers by sink
•Pet peeve: LOTS of empty sites throughout the park, yet the website showed all sites were reserved; that means that inconsiderate people reserved sites they didn't use and didn't cancel/modify their reservation to allow someone else to actually go camping and enjoy the campground. This particular campground is VERY difficult to reserve a site, so it would be nice if people were considerate enough to cancel the time they are not actually going to use to allow someone else to use it. (This is not the fault of the campground...unless they change their policy about no-shows within a certain number of hours of their reserved check-in date/time...to forfeit the site unless they give notice or something.) Apparently, this happens a LOT--especially with rates being so inexpensive--especially for seniors.
•Camp attendants (hosts) were very friendly.
