The pavilion was perfect for a group picnic of 30 people. We had an older group member fall. He hit his head and had cuts and bruising. We were able to locate an EMT ranger, who was nearby, to render aid. Joanna gave him a great field exam. We really appreciated her quick response and efforts. We got to enjoy the rest of our day in the Park.

Clean and ready to go. We love Metcalf bottoms. Great place to get away from it all.

A beautiful area. It is heavily used and the paths were designed such that we had people walking through our private gathering in the pavilion to get to the parking pass vending machine so it wasn’t quite as personal of event as we wanted. Bring your own trash bags as there are no garbage cans at the pavilion.

Metcald Bottoms is a wonderful place to have family and group gatherings for picnics and activities offered. I'm local and our family has always gone to Metcalf bottoms for gatherings since I was a little girl in the 60s.
I rented the pavillian from 4;00 PM to 8:00 PM. one evening in June 2024. We were running a little late with fewer people than expected. A group of people (not my group) were there cooking and eating. I asked them if they had rented it and a male spoke up and said no. I told them I had rented it. They said nothing. I told them it was okay and that we would go to the tables by the river close by and to please inform anyone that showed up where we were. I think the Park Rangers in charge should check the ID and reservations to make sure the people using the pavillian are the actual people that paid to rent it.

Nice covered area. If it has rained heavily, bring paper towels to wipe off some of the tables and benches that could become wet. Bathroom facilities are fairly close by.
