About Rock Creek Recreation Area (Cherokee National Forest, TN)

Rock Creek Recreation Area is named for the small creek that runs alongside this recreation site. The facilities, creek-fed concrete pond and bathhouse were originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1930s. It is located just outside the town of Erwin, TN at an elevation of 2,300 feet - a welcome respite from the summer heat. Be Bear Wise: Food storage compliance is strictly enforced. Store all food and trash in hard-sided containers and vehicles while not in use. Never have attractants in your tent. Violations of the food storage order are ticketable offenses and subject to fines. Food and trash left unattended will be impounded by campground staff.

What Guests Are Saying

Rock Creek Recreation Area is highly praised for its peaceful and spacious campsites, excellent amenities like electricity, and access to beautiful hiking and biking trails. Many visitors enjoyed the clean facilities, friendly campground hosts, and the scenic wooded surroundings. While some noted minor issues such as limited water flow at spigots and lack of phone service, these were overshadowed by the overall positive experiences and the intention to return.

Beautifully wooded park, turns tight for a big rig (I have a 40 DP), just passing through but I would stay here again.

Let me start by saying Thank you to our campground host, Tasha and Mike you see we were coming from out of state and when we got close to Rock Creek our tow vehicle started having mechanical issues we were able to limp on into campsite Tasha said she thought her husband could help so after his 8 hr. day job Mike came to site and helped diagnosis the problem and supply us with a wealth of information for our situation. not only that but the next morning before he went to his job he loaned us his personal tools so that I could go out and get parts and do the repair.
Amazing hospitality was shown to us total strangers from this young family you can only imagine how relieved we were so that we could now enjoy the rest of our trip. We enjoyed our large and level site with potable water close by and bathhouses were clean and well supplied as with any experience people are what make the difference Thanks again to our Host for the kindness that was shown to this Elderly couple.
we love this campground and will return.
