About Live Oak Ridge

Live Oak Ridge campground is located at Belton Lake close by the dam and the city of Belton. This year-round, family friendly campground accommodates both tents and RVs and has many amenities, such as a playground, water-bourne restrooms with sinks, flush toilets, and showers, and an activity center. Belton Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Belton Dam in 1954. The 12,300-acre lake is located on the Leon River, just upstream of the confluence of the Leon River and the Little River. Belton Lake is a long, narrow and winding lake with many curves and coves, providing some of the best camping, fishing, and boating in Central Texas.

We love Live Oak. We've been camping there for years. It is close to home (Gatesville) so if we have to come back in to work we can. It is a meeting place for other campers that we know in area towns. Friends can come out for supper and visit. Your park hosts are wonderful and make it a point to say Hi. We'll continue to camp there for as long as we are able to camp.

Unfortunately, I scheduled this when the lake was 12-14 ft low. Thanks to recent rains, that we have desperately needed for the last 8 years, the level is now 12-14 ft above normal level. We couldn't even get close to water to throw a fish line in. Finally canceled and went on.
