Cottonwood (Big Bend, TX)

My sister and I car camped at Cottonwood because there were no accommodations available at Chisos Basin. (The spots filled up quickly.) But, I’m glad we stayed at cottonwood because we were more secluded (being the furthest south you can go). That said… the drive to almost anywhere else in the park was a couple hours drive one-way. However, we had a beautiful view of (what I can only assume is) Mexico right when you wake up. So beautiful!! The wildlife was also amazing; we saw a bear, roadrunners, javelinas, and much more. We are already planning our next trip!

This campground is still dry camping but nicer than the other one. Still not impressed with Big Bend National Park. Won't go back.

Serene, quiet, out of the way location. Close to a few hikes. Road our bikes to Santa E on the main road. No problem. Plenty of birds even in December. Would return.

Clean, quiet campground with adequate space between spaces; bathrooms adequate; good access to hiking for all levels of fitness

I encountered no problem with anything at campsite or surrounding campground…cheers to whom ever takes care of the hounds at Cottonwood…good job

Lovely place with lots of space in a beautiful National Park.
Superclean toilets. And fresh water available.

Small campground that gives great access to explore the east side of the park. I was in site 17. Large site, but next to group camping, so there may be large groups there. The noise and light was to be expected from my neighbors in the group site, but it was easy to walk around the campground and find a place to enjoy the stars. Like all NP campgrounds, they are sold out and 1/2 the campsites are empty.

Un lugar muy natural. No cuenta con ningun servicios, mas que unas canillas con agua no potable...hay unos baños secos.... Si vas en carpa, lleva todo lo posible menos mesa y sillas....el lugar es muy lindo pero carente....
