What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Great park for a relaxing few days. This is our second time here and we have enjoyed each stay. Sites 48/49 are worked great for our two 36ft fifth wheels but note that they do not have sewer hookups. Park has some nice trails, clean bathrooms and very friendly hosts. Coldspring is a short drive and the Mason Jar Cafe is a great place to eat.

The park hosts were great! Very helpful and friendly. Lake was extremely low so fishing was impossible. But parks were clean and so were bath houses.

When we arrived, it was nice to see that our lot was leaf blown from a tag on the post with our name. It’s shown that somebody tried to take care of the site before we got there. We enjoyed our time spent there. I hope the water rises in the future for all the campers.

map on the website showed the the site I reserved was on a lake -- but when I got there the lake had pretty much dried up. Woods were nice. However, was not happy with the $10 extra per night charge for electircity. Also, dump station was not marked, was told to just use one of the empty sites that had sewer.
