What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Wonderful experience. Camp Host was lovely and very generous - let us borrow some Christmas lights so we weren't stumbling in the dark :)

Very pretty campground and friendly host/caretakers. I'm not at all sure how but the mosquitos were almost non existent, which was absolutely fantastic! !!

Bring a kayak, and make sure you see if you are bringing a camper, if the site has full hook ups, our site did not but many did.

We had a great time here! Spots are not to close and you can swim in the lake! Everyone had a great time and we’ll definitely be back soon!

Our trip was pretty great. The campsite was a good size and the lake we cleaned out where we could swim. It was so refreshing.
I'm glad we had bathrooms close by but all the showers were out except the main bath house so that was annoying having to pack everyone in the car to drive over to it.
Luckily there is a brookshire brothers and a dollar general five minutes out of the park if you forget any essentials like we did.
The camp spots were reasonably spaced, however ours got the full morning light with no shade which wasn't great and was hot. I wish the only map showed more and showed where the bathrooms were. Even though we lucked out being close it could have been worse with two little ones and basically blindly picking a spot (in talking to a bathroom).
One last thing is the trails. We had fun biking by due to a little confusion and not very clear directions/and the distance not being super clear, we were only the trail much longer than intended (9 miles).
Other than all that we had fun and it was a great experience for our 3 and 5 year olds first camping trip.
