What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

It’s a lovely little campground. The sites are in the midst of majestic pine trees, and the little lake is pretty. The campground hosts are very helpful, and the access to the Lone Star Hiking Trail is terrific. I highly recommend taking a long hike in the forest!

Wonderful park to camp, hike, bike. Lake is smaller but place to swim and of course fish. Only 1 stall & 1 shower in campground bathrooms which was a bit disappointing but it was clean. Trails are great and easy to get turned around if you phone as a bad GPS (trail maps not very reliable). We will stay here again.

I've been coming to this park for all my life (30 years). It looks better than it has in years! The park hosts have really put in a lot of time and hard work to recover from the drought and pine beetle infestation of years past. Its obviously still in need of funding, but the park is really looking loved again. 💗

Took the family for a week, we hd 3 sites and 4 different families on and off through out the week. Fantastic time and will be going back. The hosts were very nice and also helped to move one of the sites so it was a bit closer to the other 2. Highly recommend. The facilities are clean and WELL maintained and the lake is fantastic to fish in.

We were very impressed with the Staff monitoring the security and wellness. The trails and RV spots were very clean and maintained. This is now one of our favorite spots to go!

We love this park. In my mind, it is the Park Hosts that make it what it is. Friendly and accommodating. They seem to live to support the park and it's guests. Great place to get away from the madness of COVID and isolate in the woods. We will be back.
