What Guests Are Saying
Sowell Creek offers a peaceful and clean camping experience with beautiful lake views, friendly staff, and well-maintained facilities. Many guests appreciated the quiet atmosphere and spacious sites, making it a great place for relaxation and exploration. However, there are concerns about low-hanging tree branches that can pose challenges for RV access and some minor maintenance issues.

This has been a wonderful campground. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, easy access, level pads. The lake has been filled with water fowl and the sunsets are second to none. Best weather in the nation, too, during our January 2023 stay. Thank you, Texas!

We had a 43 foot toyhauler and long bed truck. Easy to get in/out of the park. Our spot, #4, had a view of the water, was very clean and the whole park was exceptionally clean. Bath houses were clean but old. Water pressure and electricity excellent. TV reception was not good, after about 10:00, no local reception. The park hosts came around on a regular basis and were very friendly. Plenty of areas to walk for exercise. Deer and wildlife are abundant and a joy to watch. There is one downfall though: Most of the grassy areas are full of stickers that made life miserable for taking our dog out. If you don’t have pets or kids, you’ll be ok. We’d go back, just make considerations for our dog.

Army corps of engineers campgrounds set a very high standard for quality. Even off season, they’re still excellent. The fire ban was frustrating, but that’s not the campground’s fault.
