What Guests Are Saying

Sowell Creek offers a peaceful and clean camping experience with beautiful lake views, friendly staff, and well-maintained facilities. Many guests appreciated the quiet atmosphere and spacious sites, making it a great place for relaxation and exploration. However, there are concerns about low-hanging tree branches that can pose challenges for RV access and some minor maintenance issues.

Park host attendants were friendly and helpful to ensure we became familiar with the park’s facilities. We stayed a full two weeks, mostly by ourselves in the loop site we reserved, and enjoyed the much needed rain and beautiful sunsets. The contract personnel cleaning the numerous restrooms are to be commended as they worked daily to ensure the facilities were clean. Even when additional campers arrived for the Labor Day weekend the restrooms remained clean - good job!!

If you are looking for a nice quiet place to camp in a public campground site 61 is the perfect place, being the last campsite in Sowell Creek and your camper door opens up and there is no one else so you basically have it by yourself. AT&T has really good reception in this campground as well, just another perk to this campground!

A decent COE, we stayed for 2 weeks. The bathrooms and showers were decent, but no ventilation. There were 4 days in a row that they were not cleaned though, may be due to staffing issues. I would have rated higher if our campground was cleaned when we got there. I had to clean up the trash around due to risk of our dog getting to it. Chicken bones and rib bones as well as bottle caps and general trash. This is unacceptable. Camp area around table not raked, which would have taken care of the trash left behind. Balloon strings and tassel left behind on table pavilion rafters. We definitely left it in betters shape than when we got there.
