What Guests Are Saying
Platter Flats is praised for its cleanliness, convenient bathroom facilities, and beautiful views, particularly from the B loop overlooking Lake Texoma. Guests appreciate the quiet atmosphere, helpful staff, and well-maintained grounds, making it a favorite camping destination. Some minor issues include noise from other campers and the need for maintenance on picnic tables and ant control, but overall, visitors express a desire to return.

We do not understand why you close the actual equine friendly camping area for the winter. The majority of pens are in that that section of the campground. This is highly inconvenient for groups of equine riders camping together. Nice weather for riding is frequent in Texas for riding in the winter and there are not so many non-equine campers present like there is in the spring and summer.

We have camped at a lot of Corps of Engineers parks that have covered pens for the horses. It would be great if that were provided because I think there would be a lot more equestrians using the park. The campsite we were in was on the side of a hill and had crosstie retainers that were covered in leaves. Right off the bat I stepped into the leaves and tripped over a crosstie that was not visible. I was only bruised but could have been worse. I'm not sure what the solution would be.

We arrived on Thanksgiving day, and were warmly greeted. We were even invited to a wonderful holiday meal! The area is peaceful and well maintained. We will be back!

most of the time I love my trips to Platter Flatts ,but, not this time, witnessed another camper, and her small dog, being attacked by 2 dogs on the beach while just taking a walk. My cousin and myself heard the lady screaming, and, saw her attempting to fight off the dogs, we went and helped her keep the dogs off them until she could get to her camper, another man, on the other side of the cove, told us to call the game warden, that this was a problem that had been going on for at least 4 weeks with these dogs, also, stated that they belong to the caretaker and she was suppose to of already gotten rid of them., I did call game warden office, and, was told that they didnt cover that area, but, he would let the Ranger in that area know to come by, never saw him, which, another thing is,I didnt see ANY Rangers make ANY drive thru the park,at all, the whole time I was there. Hope, things can get better before next camping season, I really have enjoyed Platter Flatts camping area in the past, but, not this time, didnt feel real safe!

The concrete slabs were very spacious, easy to back into and not to close together. The whole area was very clean
