Wahwahtaysee Resort

I really wanted to enjoy my stay at Wahwahtatsee, but a few major issues made the experience stressful instead of relaxing.

First, the bed bug concerns were impossible to ignore. We noticed bites and raised it with management, but the response felt dismissive and lacked urgency. A vacation property should never leave guests worrying about cleanliness or health, and this alone was enough to make the stay uncomfortable.

Second, the golf cart situation was extremely frustrating. The cart they assigned us already had minor damage when we arrived, yet staff insisted that we would be charged unless we could provide proof we didn’t cause it. It felt unfair and unprofessional to put that burden on guests for pre-existing issues.

Between the bed bug worries and the golf cart problem, the stay didn’t feel worth the stress. I hope management takes these issues seriously, because the location has potential — but right now, I can’t recommend Wahwahtatsee.

Be sure to read ALL details provided at the time of booking and sent the day before your trip. If you like outdoors, camping, and nature, this place is for you. Upon entering, ther is covered parking where you will have to leave your vehicle for the duration of the stay. You are assigned a 4 seater golf golf cart & a guy will load your stuff on a wagon to deliver it to your cabin. If you have more than 4 adults, you will have to pay for a 2nd golf cart or have your group wait turns to be picked up. The cabins are nice with AC, mini-fridge, kitchenette, pool towels, toiletries, outdoor shower, grill, and patio furniture. The downside of the cabin is how bugs easily come in. The pool & jacuzzi are nice, clean, and large. The bartender made our stay fun with music, drinks, and snacks. Everything on the menu was not always available & at one point the fryer didnt work at all. The trails are bumpy, so I'm happy the golf carts had seatbelts. The river access is cool, and there's patio furniture out for people to lounge. Everything is at your own risk, so watch out for wildlife, dogs, etc. There are other areas to fish, play vollyball, and other outdoor games. Overall, it's a nice place to go relax & be with nature.

This was my 2nd trip here and it once again enjoyed our time. Super luxury tents and beautiful grounds. We enjoyed floating the river and then hitting the pool for a refreshing swim. The pool was a nice touch though I do wish they would have let us BYOB and charge a corkage fee instead. I am super picky and would have gladly paid a fee for the day to bring in my own drinks. Other then that we really enjoyed our selves.

From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing and accommodating. The grounds are so beautiful and the golf cart rides through the property were so peaceful. The cabin was so nice and so happy to have a place to cool down. The pool is great, salt water is definitely the way to go! We ordered breakfast to be delivered to us and the staff was so prompt and even gave us some coffee with our order. My two sons had a blast and didn't even want to leave. Definitely a place we'll be going back to.

Very cool, no frills, glamping spot next to San Marcos River. We stayed in the “Santuary” tent which is a perfect getaway for a couple. Golf cart was provided for easy and quick access to the whole property. There is a bar at the pool but no restaurant on the property. If you don’t bring your own provisions, you need to order food 24 hours in advance. We had a great time. One of the property managers, Mark, was very attentive. Definitely recommend.
