Nice park but shower facilities need work. No hot water in one and multiple cracked/leaking shower heads. Difficult to contact park host as entrance is not manned most except weekends and no contact phone number posted.

I love camping but it really needs some TLC ($$$). The roads through the camping loops are awful. The firepit was rather torn up and there were large rocks scattered all around our campsite. Restrooms were clean enough but blowers are not adequate for actually drying hands.

Been to this park several times; it's a nice place. Please don't use the fire pits to dump or burn your garbage. I find garbage in the fire rings all the time at all the Corp of Engineer Parks. There are so many Dumpsters in this park there is no excuse for it. Loop 1 by the lake is in a little better condition and lake view spots fill up fast. This is also the side that usually has 50 AMP service and spots for larger RV's with a lot less Tree Troubles. This time when I opened my hood (Site 17) I saw Rodent Tracks on my engine block, but thankfully no chewed through wiring. Be sure to lift your hood periodically to make sure no rodents are attempting to nest. There are a fair amount of ants in the park as well so keep an eye open for them and don't leave food out. If you have never been to Jim Hogg park watch out for deer on Jim Hogg road from Randalls all the way into the park. Very windy at times in this location. Excellent attentive park hosts and Ranger Patrolled. Encountered a few dogs that were not leashed. Your dog may be great to you, but they may not take a liking to other people so please keep that in mind so everyone can have a great experience. Also this is a very dry area and burn bans may be in place. Please do not leave your fire smoldering and unattended. Geez I sound like the Park Karen, but things are better when rules are followed. Have a great visit.

Personnel working there are great. Clean camp sites and a quiet area. As is anywhere there are always some people that just don’t get it. The rest of the people were friendly and great. Will definitely be back through out the year. The site was close to level.

We had a wonderful stay at Jim Hogg Park. The campground was very clean, and the sites were well maintained. We stayed at site 54, which was conveniently located near the restrooms and water, making everything very easy and accessible.
The showers were nice and hot, which was a great bonus after a long day outdoors. The gate host was extremely friendly, polite, and respectful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Overall, the park was well kept and comfortable, and we would definitely stay here again.
