Many of the sites needed to be cleaned. Our site 146 we had to be careful of the low limbs while backing in.

In my past reviews, I have mentioned the need for roadway and site improvements. Apparently these issues aren't improvement to the CORP OF ENGINEERS. The travelways are in need of repairs. The aren't wide enough to accommodate the newer, and larger recreational vehicles. The also pose a safety risk for people who are want to walk around the area. The asphalt at the sites need repairs too. I have also expressed the need for trash cans to be placed throughout the park. There is no place to dispose of dog waste. I have NEVER had anyone respond, or reach out to me regarding my input!

I stayed at Jim Hogg Park over the July 4th weekend, and even with the park completely packed, the staff went above and beyond to help me out during a stressful situation.When I arrived and got set up at my site, the power pedestal kept tripping, which meant I couldn’t run my AC in the high‑90s heat. Since it was already late in the day, I honestly thought I’d have to leave and find a hotel just to get through the night. I went up to the front gate and explained what was happening. The staff immediately contacted the park ranger, who came out quickly to check the site. They confirmed the pedestal was broken—but instead of leaving me stranded, they found an emergency site and let me move there even though the park was completely full. The ranger even stopped by afterward to make sure everything was working and that I was settled in.Their responsiveness, professionalism, and genuine care turned what could have been a miserable holiday weekend into a great stay. Huge thanks to the entire team at Jim Hogg Park for their exceptional service and dedication. Highly recommend this park—and especially the staff who keep it running smoothly even during the busiest weekends.

General
- Camping by reservation only. Reservations must be made online through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
- Gate house hours of operation are Friday through Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Hours may vary during Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.
- Gate house hours of operation are Friday through Sunday.
- Maximum 14 day stay limit enforced. No extensions permitted.
- The number of personal vehicles per site is two. Additional vehicles are required to park in the overflow parking lot with the purchase of Daily Activity Pass and Additional Vehicle Pass provided by the Park Host at the gatehouse. Camping unit(s) on a campsite may include only one RV, one tent and/or two tents. The exception to these rules are the double sites in Jim Hogg Campground, in which they are allowed double the number of vehicles and camping units; i.e. up to four vehicles, two RV’s, and two tents per double site.
- Double campsites in the upper loop (D92, D102, D110, D140) only have one set of RV hookups.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Do not feed the wildlife
