I LOVE THIS CAMPWGROUND!!! We have camped here on Holidays and other weekends. It is a quite park compared to some others that I have been to. We always see a lot of deer, ducks and even a turkey. Most of the camp sites are level and a lot are shaded. I love the showers!!! They are big with HOT water. Everyone who works there is always nice and friendly.

We love staying at Hickory Creek. It’s a beautiful campground that is thoughtfully laid out. We’ve stayed many times. This campsite was the best of the best. Quiet at the end of a cul de sac. Lakefront. Great fishing hole nearby. Lots of space.

We have stayed at Hickory Creek a couple times over the past several years. This is a great location for visiting the DFW area. The park has always been very clean and looks well kept. We will stay here again if we are passing through north Texas.

There is a boat ramp so you want to be away from boaters. Boaters equal noise and drunkenness in my experience. The sites are asphalt pads. The road is wide and back in was easy. Our site was level, had a fire ring, BBQ grill, patio and nice new picnic table, and view of the lake. There are lots of trees and even though the lake is about 8ft low, it's still nice looking. There is a good amount of space between sites. Our loop doesn't have ramadas but most of the other sites do. I was all set to give this park a great rating, until I saw the bathrooms. The restroom buildings look nice from the outside, from a distance. They are concrete block and the outsides are finished with flagstone. But as you get closer you see that all the exposed wood is rotted and has peeling paint. Inside they are worse. Worn and peeling paint, sheets of plywood used to cover up holes cut into the concrete block walls to repair plumbing, overflowing and leaking toilets. Sewage, trash and TP on the floor. Several showers have broken handles and are unusable, and though they have doors all the curtains are gone. Very poorly maintained. My wife refused to use them. I took a shower, water got just warm, no where near hot, but had good enough pressure. Some of the shelves are broken and there is exposed wall surface in the showers. There is a path that leads to the bathrooms, but it is unmarked, and the asphalt surface is worn and full of potholes. Park was not easy to navigate, no signs indicating where the exits were. No signs telling you where trails and paths lead. Our site had trash in it on our arrival. There is also visible erosion of sites, walkways, patios and BBQ bases, and no one replenishes the dirt. Go a couple of blocks and there is blight, bars, tattoo parlors, and extremists. Park is very unsafe, no police presence or enforcement rangers.

Beautiful campground that gets very busy in weekends. We were in site 76, pull-thru with water and 50 amp service and spacious. We had plenty of room to fit our RV and enclosed trailer (total length 70’). Walking to our picnic table required stable feet as there was a water drainage dip between the RV and the picnic table. We needed to be extra careful at nightfall. The trails around the park are very nice! There is a lot of airport noise, but we enjoyed watching the planes come in for their final approach to DFW. We had a wonderful stay!

The convenience of this park can't be beat for locals like me. Stay here often and on this particular trip - I pulled up to my camper around 4pm on day 4 of a 5-day trip to the park host in the drive telling me I needed to leave. It seems the day added to our original trip online was a day later and someone else had reservations that night. This was all missed as I went in and out of the park earlier, so the park host and I were both surprised. Unfortunately for us, the folks with the reservations that night wouldn't take another site - so, our 33 ft. rig, 3 dogs, 2 cars and bikes had to go.
First off, totally my fault with the reservations. Secondly, the park host was professional, courteous and offered us another spot for the rest of our stay. Heck, it was already well past check out/in times and the interaction was nothing but nice. And lastly, you can bet we'll be back. Good park, good people.

Hickory Creek is well maintained… it is always clean and the staff are so helpful and friendly…the feeling of community is there. I always look forward to coming back. The lakeview is beautiful. Close to stores and local restaurants.
