I think this site, though don’t have much large flat area, is good enough for a tent-camp. It has the perfect position for the sun set. The main problem for the whole campground is noise, since it is near DFW, there are planes flying by after 10pm.

Excellent campground, site large and paved. Needs more then on place for trash. Some of the sewer intakes are too high.

stayed two nights, gate staff were friendly. Restrooms and showers were clean. would have been nice to have laundry on site as so many federal campgrounds do.

The spaces were fairly level and well spaced. Most have views of the lake. We were there during the cold snap in early January so the showers buildings were a bit chilly to use. Had to let the water run for a number of minutes to get hot water. The park is close to grocery shopping and restaurants. The staff and volunteers were very friendly. Would definitely stay again.

1st experience at COEs. Beautiful. Quiet. Learned to check showers first. Family couldn't use, too cold. Host next door & messy site w/dog messes & didn't clean up. We saw most walking w/dogs off leash. We had our 4 all on leashesat all times. Location & sites were great otherwise.

Quiet and peaceful location during off-season. Well-kept and maintained property. Close to grocery shopping and restaurants. Everyone was very friendly. Would definitely stay again.

We absolutely love Hickory Creek. However, please be advised that campers do not leash their dogs and claim their dogs are friendly as the dog charges you. I was in tears, and one guy holding a beer told me to get back to my spot and leave his dog alone. All I said was his dog needed to be on a leash. The second day I walked my dog the other direction and a man lost control of his dog coming out of his camper. He kept telling me it wasn’t his dog but his son. Ok, it came out of his camper. Never left my camp spot for 3 days. Sad. I did talk with the sweet lady at the gate and she said she would send someone.
Something needs to be done since a lady last week was bit by a dog.
