About Rayburn

Rayburn Park lies on the north shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a popular family destination with boating and fishing and access to hunting less than a mile away. Sam Rayburn Reservoir and the surrounding Angelina National Forest provide a wintering habitat for the bald eagle. During the winter months, forest visitors may see the bald eagle soaring over the lake, perched on a flooded snag or in a tall pine along the shoreline.

What Guests Are Saying

Rayburn Park is highly praised for its beautiful waterfront views, well-maintained facilities, and spacious concrete RV pads with covered picnic areas. Campers appreciate the cleanliness of the park, including restrooms, and commend the friendly and helpful staff. While some noted minor issues like biting flies and occasional power outages, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Weather was awesome. Park was very well maintained. Had a couple of power issues. Whole area lost power for several hours. We left and went sightseeing.

Park was well maintained, grass was trimmed. This park is the best kept park on Lake Sam Rayburn. So very beautiful and quiet!
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. A great place to walk and relax. The new updates to parking spots are excellent.

This really has nothing to do with Rayburn Park itself, the park is really nice. However, With the lake levels so low our children could not go outside due to the biting flies. After a couple of days we were relieved to go home for a break and to recover from our big bites. It would be nice for some sort of warning or some guidance on what to do to make the stay tolerable. Typically you go camp to spend time outside.

The park is beautiful and normally well maintained - but this time the grass was high and full of love bugs that swarmed everything in sight. Just some basic mowing around the campsites would prevent a significant part of the love bug infestation. Also - and not related to the high grass - be aware that there are large numbers of biting flies in the park this time of year!
