About Rayburn

Rayburn Park lies on the north shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a popular family destination with boating and fishing and access to hunting less than a mile away. Sam Rayburn Reservoir and the surrounding Angelina National Forest provide a wintering habitat for the bald eagle. During the winter months, forest visitors may see the bald eagle soaring over the lake, perched on a flooded snag or in a tall pine along the shoreline.

What Guests Are Saying

Rayburn Park is highly praised for its beautiful waterfront views, well-maintained facilities, and spacious concrete RV pads with covered picnic areas. Campers appreciate the cleanliness of the park, including restrooms, and commend the friendly and helpful staff. While some noted minor issues like biting flies and occasional power outages, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Very nice campground and would rate it as 4.5-5 *s. First few nights there were only 3 sites in use and the only noise that was heard was early in the morning (between 6-7AM) with all the boats zipping around during a bass fishing contest. Controlled burns were ongoing while we were there, thankfully the smoke was blowing away from the campsites.

Restrooms & 4 showers were older and would rate them between 3-4 *s. Very hot water during full shower. These were also being accessed from boaters who were not camped at the campground at the end of the day.

Be sure to have all the food, propane, etc for the duration of your stay. Its at least an hour from any real shopping. There is a private campground/marina within 5 miles that does have 2 washers/3dryers (household sized/$1.50 each) in the back of the store. Store prices extremely high for anything you forgot. Nice playground for the kids, some walking trails, not used due to the prescribed burns while we were there.

Would definitely stay here again as it was not only beautiful but overall very peaceful.

This is a beautiful campground and all the sites have been redone. The showers are tired and could use some love. Camp hosts were very gracious. Will definitely be returning and we’re from Michigan!

Nice and quite campground right next to the lake. Would’ve been better if there was hot water.
