Staff was excellent, campsite was great, and no afterhours drive through traffic, as we have noted in some of the other COE parks.

The bathrooms are not as clean as other REC.gov campgrounds. The showers are not maintained, the water is not hot. As many of the campgrounds have gone to garbage collection at the entrance, it is quite inconvenient.

This is a beautiful scenic lake and the camp is meticulously maintained in top condition. The personnel are friendly and knowledgeable. The gate keeper on our last stay told us how to save money on our reservation; we were extremely grateful to learn something new.
We camp in our RV approximately 6 times each year; each stay is 7 to 10 days. From Johnson Creek we visit Jefferson, TX, with it's endless activities and quaint downtown eateries. There is also old town Avinger with it's somewhat pricey, but worth every penny, steakhouse, with live entertainment Thursday through Sunday.
We also understand that Lake of the Pines is the best Crappy fishing lake in Texas!
This is our favorite campground in the US!

The campground was clean and well maintained. We visiting right before Thanksgiving. We walked our dogs and enjoyed the beautiful lake and the deer. We droved to Jefferson and enjoyed a day of shopping. At night we sat outside and enjoyed a cozy campfire. We were in our 33 foot bus. The RV sites are spacious and accommodated our needs. Will definitely mark this one as one of our favorites.

Great campsite with gorgeous view. Whenever I want to go camping this is the spot I think of and Johnson's Creek is not too far from the DFW area for a nice weekend get away.
