We used to enjoy this park but it is not being taken care of. It is completely overgrown and infested with ants. The tall grass is a perfect place for all the chiggers and mosquitos. I quit counting the bites because I had so many. The roads are full of potholes and completely unmanaged. I would choose a completely different park.

Would’ve been 5 stars but the power to Lot 29 kept going out. We stayed for 3 days(2nights) and it was quite difficult without electricity to set up but other than that the stay was amazing.

Lavonia park on Lavon Lake near Wylie, TX is such a beautiful park, and a perfect location for those wishing to stay in the north-east Dallas area. The lake is beautiful. The park is an oasis of (fairly) quiet calm at the edge of an urban environment. The camp hosts are polite and courteous, and handle the opening and closing of gates and the answering of questions, but have no authority to make decisions. Cell phone service is fine, as are the roads into the park.
However there are maintenance issues, as the Corps no doubt knows. No doubt funding is an understandable contributing cause.
So, lots of potential for a beautiful park, but the park needs more TLC, but the TLC probably means more $$$.

We stay there often because of its convenient location to family. Concerned that the State has allowed it to deteriorate over the years. Also, the sites are very unlevel and a challenge for the RVs that do not have leveling jacks. The staff through the years have always been very friendly and helpful.

The campground is in poor condition. When we arrived, we discovered the restroom and showers were out of order for our section of the campground. We were moved to the B loop only to find one shower working and there was only cold water. The sewers were also out of order. The grass was overgrown Adria the sites, the asphalt drives and site pads are potholed. Sites are not level. Just a very poorly maintained COE campground. We seek out COE campgrounds as they are typically well-maintained. Not this one.

Getting There
From Wylie, Texas take State Highway 78 North to Lake Road (County Road 486) located in the city of Lavon. Take a left on Lake Road. Follow signs into the campground by taking a left over the railroad tracks bridge.

Lavonia Park is accessible via State Highway 78, which is approximately 2 miles away. From State Highway 78, Lake Road (County Road 486) leads directly to the campground.

- Day-use area closes at sunset
- Help reduce energy costs when you leave by turning off the air conditioning, lights, fans, and electric water heater. When not in use, please turn down the temperature on the electric water heater, unplug chargers and appliances, turn off radios and the television.
