What Guests Are Saying

Lavonia is praised for its beautiful lake views and peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for campers. Many reviews highlight the friendly park hosts and the spaciousness of the sites, which provide a sense of privacy. However, maintenance issues such as overgrown grass, pothole-ridden roads, and inadequate restroom facilities detract from the overall experience, indicating a need for better management and upkeep.

Staff is very friendly. This park is in a state of disrepair, it needs a lot of TLC. Has potential to be a great place to visit if the Core of Engineers would take care of this facility instead of neglecting it. You can tell Eastfork and Lavonia parks are not a priority for the current lake manager.

This park is a very good one. I very much enjoyed the stay. The reason I only gave 3 stars is because there is no after 10 PM access to the park via a vehicle. It's very easy to add a gate code system.

Nice open area. Spots close to the water. Lake access is great with boat ramp. Kids playground was not usable so not much to do for the young ones

Excellent location on the lake for a park campground, but minimal if any infrastructure maintenance is being done. Several sites were not available for RV use because of electrical problems. A few other sites were held aside in case campers from some other sites experienced electrical problems and needed to move.

Asphalt roadway and RV pads are extremely degraded and unmown grass growing in the cracks. The restrooms are in very poor condition and we had to prune some tree limbs to get our RV in and out of our site without damaging the sides and the A/C unit. We are into self-help and the tree pruning was no problem, it just added to the annoyance of the lack of TLC for this resource.

I’m sure there are budget constraints and we in no way expect nor want resort accommodations, but funds need to be invested to bring this campground back to proper operation.

We will never stay here again. Don’t get me wrong it was nice to have hookups and the lake view and sunsets were amazing but the park sites themselves are horrible! They are not in good keeping, overgrowth and every site was sloped. It was so bad I lost sleep thinking our rig would let go and fall down the embankment into the lake! We used cinder blocks as a safety behind the chocks. Too bad they can’t spend a few bucks and build up the sites to level them out.

Nice park and nice location with hillside scenic overlooks of the lake from most spots. Very nice hosts. The reason for 2 stars was because our space (11), while beautiful and scenic, had inconsistent 30a power and was the only space w/o sewer. We didn't mind the sewer because we were not expecting it and didn't need much power due to the time of year but it would be an issue in hotter months. Also of note is that most sites have a significant front to back or back to front slope. Most trailers will be ok but class A, C, or large 5th Wheels may require a number of blocks. The place has high potential but could use some updates. Best suited for smaller rigs where the ratings will likely be higher. Visited in a 42' motorhome.
