What Guests Are Saying
Lavonia is praised for its beautiful lake views and peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for campers. Many reviews highlight the friendly park hosts and the spaciousness of the sites, which provide a sense of privacy. However, maintenance issues such as overgrown grass, pothole-ridden roads, and inadequate restroom facilities detract from the overall experience, indicating a need for better management and upkeep.

The campsites are very large and spacious. They (fire pits, BBQ grills, parking pads, and exit drive) are poorly maintained. We did not use the restrooms and shower house but looked in and they were very clean. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. The 10:00 am - 10:00 p.m. hours to enter the park were difficult as were were visiting family in the area.

I always enjoy staying at this park! Spacious campsites! Friendly park guests! Beautiful view!
Like many other corps of engineer parks, these parks are showing their age and need some serious updates to the roads and campsites. If it's your first time to visit, take extra blocking for leveling your trailer. The stay is still well worth the effort.

Many of the RV site pads have a significant slope (front to back).
They lock the gates from 10 pm to 10 am and there is not gate code that you can use to enter the park during this time. You can exit the park at any time but currently the exit available from 10 pm to 10 am has a significant rut in it making it hard for an RV to leave. The gate attendant recommended that if you ant to leave before 10 am, you should let them know in advance to see if they can arrange to open the usual exit gate early.
We do thank the gate attendant. They were very nice.

It's a beautiful park with spacious campsites and great views of the lake. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again. Be aware though that some of the sites could use some TLC. Uneven pads, weeds, some broken campfire rings, etc. We did not use the restroom facilities but from the outside, they also looked like they needed some work. Our site had full hookups which is unusual for COE campgrounds (in our experience). All that being said, the sites and the views were awesome, the camp host was nice and we enjoyed our two day stay.

View of the lake and sunset was beautiful. Sites weren’t level and roads into park were in disrepair. Staff was friendly and helpful. About 1/4 of the sites were closed due to disrepair. Bath houses were usually clean with plenty of hot water. Hope you like trains.
