What Guests Are Saying

Lavonia is praised for its beautiful lake views and peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for campers. Many reviews highlight the friendly park hosts and the spaciousness of the sites, which provide a sense of privacy. However, maintenance issues such as overgrown grass, pothole-ridden roads, and inadequate restroom facilities detract from the overall experience, indicating a need for better management and upkeep.

Boat ramp was not accessable due to water level but was open. I'm handicapped and need a ramp. Online gave me FF options so I couldn't see what campsites were actually available. Some spaces were actually available for the days we were there unoccupied but had no choice but to take what attendent said was available. We go there often because it's close and convenient but this was actually the worse experience we have ever had.

This park could be so much better if just a few basics were covered. If you plan on camping here, bring a weed eater so your site doesn't have thousands of weeds blocking your view of the beautiful lake. Also, be aware that the electric outlets only support 24 watts - so you have to limit what you are using at one time. If you are looking for large campsites, this is the place to go - the views are beautiful! And you can have a fire at your site :)

There seem to be several first come first serve sites that are vacant when we get there and are not used while we are there. We are wondering how to get one of those sites. On our recent stay the bathrooms didn’t seem to be as clean as previous times when we stayed there.

We love the full hook ups and the view . We will spend 7-14 days at a time . Its a wonder place to stay , gate folks are nice and helpful always and they keep the place in order when the disorderly dont follow rules and expectations. My husband and I love that we just relax as a teacher we need all the relaxation we can get .

You have GOT to repair the road at the exit gate!!! We refused to go out the exit because of potential damage to our 5th wheel jacks, so we waited for the entrance gate to clear of traffic and went out. Other than that, we had a good experience.

Labonia has become one of my favorite Dallas destinations. I was in a motorhome in site 4. The site is on a hill overlooking the lake. The fields were all nicely mowed. This park will provide you with the most beautiful sunsets. All the sites are about 125 ft wide and most sites provide covered picnic tables. Most Army Corps of Engineer parks do not have sewer. Most Lavonia sites provide sewer. The park is close to Lavon and Rockwall, churches, shopping and dining. I camped for 2 weeks at a Senior Pass discount of $15 per night (normal rate $30). Negatives: A lot of very nice sites, but some not level. You will also need to limit electrical usage to 24 amps.
