Campsites are very nice and private. Vault toilets could be cleaner, but it's understandable since they see a lot of traffic with day-trippers.

Camp host is a great guy friendly and knowledgeable about the park and the park itself has so many trails to choose from and so much history behind it

Lovely little park on the San Gabriel. Each walk-in campsite was clean, with a flat 16X16 pad, fire pit, picnic table and lantern/garbage bag hook. Each site is covered with shade by big oak trees. The single camp water spigot has fairly decent tasting water. There are two gendered pit toilets a few hundred yards from the campsite along the parking lot. Since most of the sites are pretty close together, it’s up to campers to be courteous to each other for a quiet, relaxing experience. We stayed overnight and had some friendly conversation with some neighboring campers.
From the camp, there are two main forks of the Goodwater Loop trail to hike, one on either side of the river. This is a hike and bike trail, so be aware of those on different modes of transportation. The west side trail is flat for the first 2 miles, then moves into more varied terrain. The west side trail remains flat and picks up along Booty’s Road with historic info markers along the way.
I removed one star from the rating due to a couple of maintenance issues. First, the fire pits were full to the brim with ash, compared to the very diligent daily removal of ash from other nearby campgrounds. Secondly, the women’s bathroom did not have a toilet seat, requiring our party to only use the men’s. And really, there’s no reason to make restrooms gendered either. Third. we never saw the camp hosts outside of their camper. This is normally not an issue, but there were a couple of situations where some campers had questions and the recommendation is to check in with the hosts when you arrive. Finally, all of the campsites were reserved per recreation.gov’s system, but only four sites were in use that night. It’s a shame that people are not using or releasing their reservations for others or that the park isn’t charging some kind of no-show fee.

Great, simple primitive sites in a smaller park connected to the wider trail and lake network. My spot was clean and quiet. The trail access is great and parking is ample. During the day many hikers are coming and going, then things quiet down in the evening. The one downside, this being a small camp on a wider network, is this is apparently some kind of late night rendezvous spot for the Wilco Cedar Park Liberty Hill area. My spot was set back off the lot, but I watched cars come and go all night for brief stays. I worried a late night run to the toilets would be risky even. Found condoms in the parking lot in the morning. Apparently there used to be patrols through here to make sure it was secure after hours but deputies or parks no longer come by. I was in 9, grouped together with 8 and 7. For a solo site I recommend 10. 11 is nice but it's right next to and exposed to the larger trail network. Next time I will probably hike in the 2.5-3 miles from Tejas to Sawyer instead.

Great place for camping. Only amenities are stinky vault toilets. Ethan the camp host is a good guy. Good options for trails. Is the government so broke they can't have toilets at a popular park?

This is a very small park with camping spots fairly close together. I was fortunate to go at a time of year when it was not crowded, however my spot was right next to the main hiking trail, so there was not much privacy (Spot #11). The trail itself was absolutely gorgeous and I would definitely go back for the hiking experience. There are no showers or running water at the campsite, so prepare for a rustic experience if you go.
