We've stayed at Cagle many times and always enjoyed it. The campground is great with beautiful views on Lake Conroe. The campground host Jesse is fantastic -- a warm and friendly presence.
We've become a bit disenchanted with site 32. It's probably the best site in the campground with a great view of the lake, easy access to the lakeside hiking trail, and plenty of space. We've regularly booked it exactly 6 months in advance to get it. Unfortunately, everyone else seems to love the site as well and walks right through it while we're there. On multiple occasions we've settled into a hammock for a nice nap and been woken by people tromping right by our heads speaking loudly. We've tried calm and polite discussions of "Please don't walk through someone else's campsite," but it gets exhausting. We will probably start staying at a different site.

The bathrooms are still disgusting in the first loop. I like that it’s reasonably close to Huntsville and Conroe, but that is the highlight of the park.
Bathrooms are not cleaned on a regular basis. The sites however are nice and deep.

Nice campground with some trails. Even when full, it was quiet. Camp sites are not isolated.
