What Guests Are Saying
Sanders Cove is a beautiful and clean campground with spacious sites, lovely views, and friendly hosts, making it a favorite for many campers. While the campground offers a peaceful atmosphere and good amenities, some facilities, particularly the bathrooms and showers, require significant updates and maintenance. The roads leading to the park are in poor condition, but the overall experience is enjoyable, with plenty of outdoor activities available nearby.

Camping here in the off season, there were only three other campers in the campground. It was very quite. The campground was clean and well kept. The only oddity was the water hydrant was on the opposite side of the site pad from the electric pedicle. My 50' water hose made it a non-issue. We would camp here again.

the spot we picked had a great view of the lake, BUT the fire rings were in bad shape, some of the tables were leaning toward the road. the roads were bubbled up and terrible to drive on. the bathrooms weren't that clean, the tile was broke cracked, the floors were leaning so there was water standing in the corners with no way to get dressed on a dry floor. Sanders Cove used to be a very nice campsite BUT its like they take your money and don't do any repairs on the camp.

This was a beautiful campground right on the lake. With the fall leaves falling sites can be difficult to find. This park was quiet and a great place to stay, would stay here again.

We love the setting at Sanders Cove and booked it specifically to have a pretty tree-covered spot overlooking the lake. The grounds are well maintained and we really enjoy the hiking trails. Unfortunately we were disappointed during this visit as we planned to work during the week of our stay but had zero cell coverage and experienced almost no service using Starlink, which is very reliable almost everywhere. We also did not see anyone from the park during our 8-day stay (not even while checking in at the specified time) and due to the campers next to us had fires during a burn ban and leaving their site a mess with trash. Even though we were there during the off season, we expected to be greeted or visited by the camp host and for them to enforce some campground rules with our neighbors. It may not keep us from coming back but definitely took away from the experience as a whole, and we’ll be sure to remember it’s the place you need to plan to disconnect from all service.

Wish I could say positive things, but like a lot of Army Corp parks this place is poorly managed and not really maintained. Nobody was at the gate house the entire time, and I never saw anyone who appeared to work at the park. Pretty sure there were meth-heads squatting at the park long term because there was no one there to run them off, and it times it felt a bit unsafe. The bathrooms were disgraceful, especially on the C loop, and I have a photo to prove it. Whatever you do, don’t try to launch your boat on the ramp on the C loop. The concrete has collapsed underwater and it has the potential to cause series damage to your trailer. Some guys were unable to pull their boats out of the water and had to drive and reload using the ramp on the A loop. Not sure if all of the problems are due to a lack of funding, or just general incompetence from government workers, but it is really sad and disappointing that these parks are not maintained well at all – Not just Sanders Cove, but most of the Army Corp parks I have visited in north east TX.
