About Union Grove

Union Grove Park is located on the southwestern shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in central Texas. The lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities, including water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, large group pavilions, hunting, fishing and simply enjoying the scenery. This facility has RV and tent camping sites with water and electric hookups available, as well as three screen shelters available for guests without camping equipment. The facility is one of only two reservable campgrounds on the lake. Stillhouse Hollow Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Stillhouse Hollow Dam in 1968. The 6,430-acre lake is located 16 miles upstream of the confluence of the Lampasas and Leon Rivers, which flow into the Little River.

Very peaceful place in October. Pretty surroundings, the grass and deer. The lake was low so not as nice as usual but it was okay.

We really liked this CEO park but the sites were not positioned well and not too many had shade, the lake was really low but so was the other COEs we were at. This park really needs some hiking trails which would add activities. The Bathrooms/showers were excellent but didn't understand why they locked the doors open...gives critters easy access at night.

As always, Union Grove is very nice for us, since we only live about 16 miles away. It's nice to bring the RV out and then enjoy the boat as well. That being said, we have a relatively large amount of difficulty with site #5, since it's very hard to back the RV into. It's not that there's not a lot of room, but the pavement drops off so sharply in every direction that you end up 'bottoming out' and scraping up the pavement, no matter how you try not to when setting up. This has happened on multiple occasions. Also, the park host informed us that after November 1, even if there's enough paved parking in front of the RV, we'll not be able to keep our boat by our RV and will have to move it to another location. Seems kind of pointless in the sites that have the space, but we also understand that folks park all over the grass sometimes, and know that's not allowed. Thanks for having such a great park close by, and if we can take a look at site 5 so that we don't damage the pavement anymore, that'd be great! Thanks!

Grass & weeds are in dire need of mowing, 18" to 24" high, including in some of the campsites. The combination key pad at the entrance gate to the camping area is so low it can't be reached from the drivers window of a class A motorhome even by hanging out the window. You have exit the vehicle and walk around to the key pad post.
