Bathrooms here were very nice and well maintained. Flush toilets and sinks. The campground even has a sink to wash dishes in. Campsite 9 had nice shade over the table area and the the tent space was flat and smooth. Campsites are close together is the only negative. Views of the surroundings and the night sky was fantastic.

Very remote, quiet campground, (4 RV sites) no cell service, but an unexpected surprise WiFi courtesy of the NPS!

We absolutely loved it . Magnificent and solitude. There should be a better way for people to get the reservations for when people don’t show up . Maybe like half reserved and the other half not. Overall amazing.

This was my 4th trip to GUMO & my first to Dog Canyon. Loved the remoteness and even the lovely 2-hour drive to Dog Canyon. So much more enjoyable than the circus atmosphere of Pine Springs campground. We set up camp on Thursday late afternoon & hiked up to Mescalero camp (with a quick hike to the top of Lost Peak) the next day. Spend the night alone there and then looped around via Blue Ridge & back down via Bush Mountain trail We were blind sighted by the steep, long climb back up to a ridge before descending back to Dog Canyon. a total of 18.2 miles with 3,753' of elevation gain, burned 6,364 calories with a total hiking time of 14:27 hours.
The tent sites in Dog Canyon are surprisingly close, but workable. The water and Wi-Fi are helpful. Power did go out for several hours and we lost Wi-Fi.
