About Cedar Ridge (TX)

Cedar Ridge Park campground is located on the Northern side of Belton Lake. This year-round campground accommodates both tents and RVs and has several sites with screened shelters for those who do not have camping equipment. This family friendly park provides many amenities, including water-bourne restrooms with sinks, flush toilets, and showers, group picnic areas, and a concession marina within the park offers fuel and basic convenience store items, as well as a seasonal restaurant. Belton Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Belton Dam in 1954. The 12,300-acre lake is located on the Leon River, just upstream of the confluence of the Leon River and the Little River. Belton Lake is a long, narrow and winding lake with many curves and coves, providing some of the best camping, fishing, and boating in Central Texas.

Spot 67 is wide open plenty of space and great view of the lake. There is no trees on this spot. Spot was clean and well maintained. Book this spot when temps are not in the 90+ range.

We stay here frequently, in multiple different sites, and have been camping here for 20+ years. We normally have a great time, but our last 2 trips, specifically with this park host have been less than enjoyable.

For this specific trip, we had ongoing electrical issues (the entire park did) and no notice or estimated time of repair was provided by the park host. When we determined that everyone was experiencing issues, my husband went to notify the park host who responded by stating he was aware and that our area was experiencing rolling blackouts (we were not) and that this happens every 4th of July. (It does not.)

We camp here at nearly every major holiday and also live in Bell County, so we know that his statements were not factually correct and Oncor did not show any outages…

We also witnessed the park host chasing a severely injured whitetail fawn on his ATV. At the time we assumed he was trying to help it, but what he was actually doing was pushing it towards the water. An hour later, we found it, on the side of the boat ramp literally being eaten alive by buzzards. We contacted the game warden seeking assistance after discovering this.
