Sites got really muddy during the rain and a lot of poisonous snakes.

It rain the whole weekend which is out of the parks hands but our campsite was all dirt on the equestrian side (didn’t know it was dirt but it was the only one left with electric and water). Our tents were floating in water. Then we were eaten by some kind of bug and they only attacked our lower legs and ankles. We were told no atvs or golf carts but there were several in the park. I’m not saying we won’t ever come back because we will but lesson learned don’t camp on the equestrian side.

We were able to gather plenty of fallen branches to make a nice fire, and the stickers in the grass didn't bother us as we wore shoes and put a tarp under our tent. The water spigot worked very well and the location was beautiful! The campsites aren't too close together and having the bathrooms walking distance was convenient. The only downside was inconsiderate people - from 3-4am, someone drove their truck around the ring of campsites blasting music which was annoying. But we will definitely come back!

Have been going to McCown Valley for about 20 plus years now and always have enjoyed it. However this last time there was some day use people that were on the camping side that shouldn't have been there, due to no one monitoring the gate.

Camp sites clean, and not too close to each other. Covered tables, bbq pits, fire rings at each site. Beautiful lake. Restrooms could use some updates (2 of 3 doors were missing in one), but all clean and good water pressure in shower.
We'll visit again for sure!

The best equestrian camping area in north Texas. Spacious and shady camping sites with water and electricity. Excellent equestrian trails with miles of interesting sandy trails.

Make sure you are in the gate before 10pm or they like to lock you out.. disappointed with the outdated way of operating.

Very nice park. Concerned about security. Man in a old pickup. Stayed in the next campsite beside us over night. Looked creepy, long hair, beard and dog not on leash. He stayed all night and left the next day only when the camper with reservations showed up. No one was working the office in the front to check you in. Not good

I cannot account for the piscatorial disappointment to you all, but I can say when I finally encountered an employee and was cheerfully acknowledged. I hope your staffing problems can get solved before the entire country suffers from this democratic demise...
