What Guests Are Saying

Moon Lake Campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, spacious sites, and friendly staff, making it a great spot for outdoor activities and relaxation. However, it has faced ongoing issues with its water supply, resulting in no running water and reliance on porta potties, which some found to be poorly maintained. Visitors recommend checking for events at nearby facilities to avoid noise disturbances and suggest that improvements are needed for the campground to reach its full potential.

Clean. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Favorite place to camp. Oh...did I mention they have flushing toilets.

Although our campsite was literally washed out by a flash flood, we had a wonderful time. The camp hosts and Moon Lake Lodge staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was safe and had a place to sleep that night (about 4 or 5 tent camp families were 'displaced'). In the morning when we went to find our things it appeared as though many objects had already been recovered and were placed out for us to find. My only concern was whether or not the campers that had reserved our flooded-out sites were notified as to the conditions to which they would be arriving. I sincerely hope so as Moon Lake is definitely off the beaten path and gas prices are kind of crazy right now. But anyway, we had a beautiful day out on the lake and love the way the campground is set up. Generators were off by 10 pm, so it was very quiet. Thank you RV'ers! The trail is closed to hiking this year (2021) due to the fire last year.

Although the lake was low this year, the campground was well maintained with especially clean restrooms. The people are friendly and the general store is nice.

There was fire damage to the surrounding area requiring that the trails were closed. Drought made the lake level extremely low this year (2021) but the campground was very nice. The bathrooms were kept clean. Host was helpful.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Site capacity

  • Tents must be placed only on designated tent pads; no extra tents are allowed.
  • Availability of first-come sites is not guaranteed despite website availability indications.
  • Occupying a reservable site without a current reservation is prohibited.
