What Guests Are Saying
Gooseberry Reservoir offers a beautiful camping experience with clean facilities and spacious campsites, making it an appealing spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Nice to have a gravel pad for pitching the tent under muddy conditions, but the gravel fire pit could have been better. Had to dig out the center in order to build a fire.

The camping area is not fenced off from the sheep herds.. The smell of sheep manure is prevalent. The sheep invade the campsites for 2 to 3 hours in the morning and the same before sunset!!! There is no reason the lease agent for the sheep could not place a fence on the camp side of the creek so that the sheep can water and stay away from the campsites.
Worse than the sheep, is all of the non campsite traffic that drives through all day. The dust was unbearable, the racing of side by sides, and motor cycles at 30+ miles per hour, going around and around the campsite access road was inexcusable. The FS should be ashamed of such a mess. The Gov. charges enough money, that the camping at the lake should have a camp host and write citations for all of the mayhem that has crept into the area. IF YOUR ANSWER IS: BUDGETS HAVE BEEN CUT, THEN CHARGE MORE!!!!
I am a 70 year old native of the area and I am ashamed to see what the gov. has let the area become.

Gooseberry is Andy’s favorite camping spot. We had to leave early because of tire problems so we didn’t get to stay. Hopefully, we can try again. Thank you.

We used this campsite to climb in Mabel canyon . Unfortunately we got weathered out with cold temps and snow featuring moderate winds. The campground is fine with out in the open camping, clean vault toilet and large campsites. We wish we brought our fly rods after exploring the reservoir outflow!

I grew up on this mountain. So I wanted to bring my grandson's and husband and let them enjoy that mountain. They had a great time fishing at gooseberry. We camped up at gooseberry and it was so relaxing. And they got to play in the snow in July up on the mountain. We went up to cottonwood ridge and I told them how my family stayed up there and we knew a couple of the sheep herders that stayed up there. I would recommend you take your family up there. Your kids get to unplug from the phones and just enjoy nature at its best.

Great Place to relax when 4 wheelers and UTV are not driving through camps and creating a dust cloud. Sheep have access to the parking area as well.

We stayed by the lake which was great. The campground was in terrible shape. Broken tables and garbage all around. We had to pick up trash before we parked our trailer. We stayed for 8 days and should have dried camped instead.

Gooseberry Reservoir is our favorite place. We always catch plenty of fish. We camp right along the reservoir so great fishing is only a few feet away. Camping spots are spacious. It is so peaceful.
