What Guests Are Saying
Gooseberry Reservoir offers a beautiful camping experience with clean facilities and spacious campsites, making it an appealing spot for outdoor enthusiasts. However, visitors have noted issues with sheep intrusion and excessive vehicle traffic, leading to noise and dust concerns. Despite these drawbacks, many campers appreciate the location and express a desire to return.

We love Gooseberry Reservoir, one of my favorite places to camp. We arrived to find the camp sites filled with sheep, the problem being their dogs. In the past we have had them get in our garbage during the night. This visit we could not let our own dogs out of our Motorhome without 4 large white dogs charging and barking. I tried to discuss the trouble with the sheep herders but they were hard to communicate with and could care less. Luckily later in the day while playing with my dog (he's a talker) the sheep were spooked and ran over the mountain and were not in the camp the remainder of our visit.

Very convenient campsite next to the lake. We did wake up one morning with a herd of sheep in camp and the dogs were in our garbage's.

Gooseberry is definitely in my top go to places for camping now. It is very pretty, and there is drinking water available a little up the road. There is NO SHADE anywhere available for the camp grounds, so make sure to bring your own. the bathroom is a single co-ed bathroom that is always clean. the road even though its dirt, and the Campgrounds are well maintained.
The BIG downside, and I would hope it will be addressed. A lot of random people show up (might just be the weekend) and they just start parking in the campground (I had my personal vehicle and then 2 random vehicles parked next to mine in what i would consider mine or the neighboring campground area ) even though right up the road there is a large parking lot. This kind of defeats the purpose of RESERVING your campground because your sharing it with random people during the day (all day). The other thing that must be addressed is the Cattle Grids on the Dirt roads towards the campground, They need re-level the dirt around them. Any car could easily get over them but they need to be addressed before they get worst.

I have been going it Gooseberry for many years. There are very few amenities except the great fishing and the wonderful scenery, but I hope I can come back for years to come.

We really enjoyed the site and all the amenities. It's an amazing part of the world. It's a way of "getting away," without going that far away. We all loved it.
