We camp at Sunrise every year while visiting Bear Lake and to escape the heat of lakeside camping. Love the semi primitive experience (water, outhouse, fire pit, picnic table only--no hook ups) and the dense alpine forest. We've learned from years of experience that some sites are better than others and whether pull through or back in for our pop up camper. You have to be "Johnny on the spot" to reserve during the open reservation window as sites fill immediately, especially weekends. Garden City is minutes down the canyon road for supplies, eats, and of course raspberry shakes.

It was our first time at Sunrise. It's a very nice campground close to Bear Lake. It was quiet, and the bathrooms were clean. The only thing we didn't like was that there were so many red ants in the spot where we were trying to set up our tent. It was a little unnerving thinking that we had to sleep with them all around and under our tent. Luckily, we didn't have problems with them, but the ants might keep us from choosing this campground next time.

This is a great campground. This is our second time here. The campsite was clean and in the shade most of the day. There were very few bugs. The bathrooms are very clean. Bear Lake is just a short 20-minute drive away. We love it!

We had a very nice camp at Sunrise Campground. Camp host was friendly and helpful answering a couple of questions. Restrooms were clean.
The campground needs to have more than one water faucet for the whole campground. Also the road is in need of repair with several chuckholes.

I stayed at Sunrise campground during the last weekend in June, and it was very cold and wet. At the top of the mountain, our campsite was at least 10 degrees colder than Bear Lake. But we had a great time! Our camp host, Bill, was very nice, and kept us updated on the weather throughout our stay. The bathrooms were clean, and our campsite had plenty of room for everyone. There were some red ants all over the ground when we got there, so bring a tarp to lay under your tent! Overall, great experience though! How can you not have a great time with the lake just behind the trees and some great pals cozied up by the fire with you?

The campground host this last season was wonderful and went out of his way to make sure campers were happy with their experience on the campground. I highly recommend Sunrise for camping if you’re in the Bear Lake area.

From Logan, Utah, take Highway 89 east for 31 miles, then turn south onto FR102. Follow for .6 miles to campground. Sunrise is one mile west of Bear Lake Summit and 6 miles west of Garden City, Utah.

- This Campground is in Bear Country Always store food and trash securely to avoid attracting wildlife -Failure to comply may result in fines up to $5,000, removal from your campsite and/or imprisonment Remember, a fed bear is a dead bear; your actions can save lives
- This is a 'pack it in, pack it out' facility; bring trash bags
- Dogs or Domestic Pets Owners must -Control the dog by a leash not to exceed six feet (6’) at all times -Clean up dog feces immediately -Limit two dogs per campsite Do not allow dogs to -Rush, threaten, or attack people/animals -Obstruct or interfere with people, vehicles, or property -Cause damage to vegetation, habitat, or harass wildlife
- Gates open at 7am, Gates close at 10pm; No generators after 10pm; Camping is allowed only within the designated space provided. Do not go beyond the boundaries of your site; Max occupancy is 8 people per single site; Horses/Off-road vehicles are prohibited in the campground; Leave No Trace; Put all trash in dumpsters, when provided, or properly stored in your vehicle or bear box; Remove all personal property and trash when leaving; Unclean campsites will be reported to the District Ranger LEO; Cleaning fish, animals, or bathing where drinking water is supplied is strictly prohibited; Fireworks or other explosives are prohibited. Discharging of a firearm in the campground is not allowed; No fighting or boisterous behavior. Be courteous to your fellow visitor. Keep noise at a reasonable level; No amplified music is allowed in USDA Forest Service campgrounds and facilities; Max Vehicle Length includes tow vehicle
- There is a 2-night minimum stay on weekends; 3-night minimum stay on holiday weekends
- Trailers/Campers and RVs: Come with water tank filled. Hooking up to spigots or the power in the restrooms, even for medical devices is strictly prohibited
- First Come First Served (FF) sites For reservable sites, reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance You must claim a FF site in person on the day you wish to check-in A site listed as FF does not guarantee availability, Recreation.gov does not update FF occupancy The only way to know if an FF site is available is to arrive at the campground on the day you plan to check-in Availability cannot be predicted Many sites are in remote locations, we cannot contact camp hosts about availability Recommended arrival times vary by day. Weekends and holidays typically fill more quickly To claim an FF site, you must be present, occupy the site, and pay at that time There is no waiting list for FF sites
- Extra Vehicle -$10 per vehicle, per day (paid on-site cash/check) Firewood -$9
- If you booked at a discount without a Senior or Access pass, you'll need to pay the difference in cash/check upon arrival. Only Senior or Access passes qualify for discounts and proof of ownership upon arrival is required
- Cancellations within 24 hours prior to arrival date will forfeit the entire use fee and a $10 cancellation fee; No-shows, early departures, or cancellations after the arrival date are not entitled to a refund; If you do not arrive at the campsite by 12pm the day after scheduled arrival and does not cancel the reservation, will be charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first-night use fee
