It was our second time camping at the Horsethief group campground. The sites are large with lots of spots for tents, and the covered picnic shelters are great for shade. The location is the perfect balance of remote and close to everything. Bike trails right from the campground, 20 minutes to Canyonlands and Dead Horse, 30 min to Moab.
The other 3 groups were very respectful of quiet hours, and the toilets were relatively clean. No water onsite, but there's a spigot at the Canyonlands visitor center.

Such a great spot. Lots of space and very quiet during our visit. Great location close to Canyonlands, Dead Horse SP, and Moab. No running water, but there's a spigot to fill up at the Canyonlands visitor center. Shade awnings over the picnic tables were such a nice touch!

We rented a group site and had an excellent experience. This campground is close to many recreational opportunities in the Moab area. Quiet and clean facility.

The BLM has upgraded the group campsite with a few designated tent spots with tie down locations. It was nice to see because the wind was so bad I thought my tent was going to fly away with me in it.

Stayed at Horsethief for almost a week with a large group in Mid-march. Here are a few helpful tidbits about the group campsites and location.
Road was easily drive-able despite epic rain.
Parking areas for group sites easily fit our two 12-passenger vans with small cargo trailers.
The area is almost 2000' higher elevation than Moab, and very wind exposed. It was noticeably colder here than in town.
If you had a lightning storm, the campsite is very exposed on top of a high plateau with no major trees.
Bathrooms were well kept.
Rain and sun pavilion was great.
Direct access to mountain bike trails from the campground.

Awesome site. They had a huge covering for the cooking and eating space. was very nice especially when it was raining. Obviously being so high up there was a lot of wind and our tent stakes didn’t stay in very well into the soft ground from being previously rained on.
Very clean bathrooms, would camp here again!

Group site C was the perfect staging area for a 4-day multi-family ride on the White Rim Trail. The site was tidy and spacious, the restroom was clean, and the views were amazing. We will be back.
