Very busy with locals coming and going at all hours of the night dumping their trash in the large bins directly across from group a site. Now has cell service unlike years past.

Group Site A is very close to the boat launch, which was nice for our group. There were plenty of spots for tents. Having potable water in the site was also very convenient for us all. Will definitely look to camp at this site again on the next river trip.

Sand Island never disappoints! The camp site was beautiful and roomy and even though the ramp was crowded, other boaters are friendly and helpful. The ranger check-in process was straightforward. We always look forward to returning to Sand Island. We especially appreciate the shade structures and tables near the river.

All good at the campsite for a boating put-in, but:
The nice cottonwood that provided shade is on its last legs...
The bathroom that usually serves both group sites A and B was locked!
The experience could have been much better.

Easy, clean. Quiet enough. Great place to stage our San Juan launch the next morning.

Small pavilion, says put vault toilets but they are a bit of a walk. Lots of great tent spots

Nice big spot with water and a covered table area. We had a great stay staging for a river trip with 4 cars.
