It is a great dry camp in the middle of the forest but with two small lakes. And the big east lake has no motor boats in it but lots of swimming when the water is up. This year (2021) it was very low, the small lake had very little water in it. The big east lake was more full but still very low. The group B campground was a nice place for a group to camp out for a trailer and lots of little tent spots in the woods. Nice big fire pit and several solid picnic tables.

We were not there long enough to really find a lot of things to do. We did fish the lakes. Campground was pretty. We were lucky to be in the pines. Many of the sites are in scrub oak or quakies. Had a loud party that went until 3:00 am one of our two nights. Should have called the authorities, but let it go on. Overall the visit was ok- not great.

The restrooms were very clean. I was impressed as to how well they were maintained. Usually pit toilets and stinky and dirty, with not toilet paper in them. The campground was quite and well maintained.

Payson lakes is always a wonderful family camping area. We were disappointed that the lake was so low, but we still had a fun time.

First time camping here, we will be back! It is a nice spot with abundant wildlife, wonderful views, and a great lake and amenities!

There seemed to be no enforcement of the number of people per campsites, the number of RVs per campsite, or parking only on asphalt. We invited the camp host to dinner one night and she is a delightful person, I think the campers just abused the policies regarding campsite use.
