Great camp site with access to the river. The location of the tent pad was ideal as it was a bit away from the water, so it wasn't too loud. The fire pit was a bit deep into the ground (about 18" in part of the pit), and that made keeping the fire going a bit tricky. We saw a raccoon in our camp as the sun was setting so we made sure to put all food and garbage into the car at night. Overall a great campsite.

The was a water outage so portable toilets were set up. They smelled very bad by morning.
The people in the campsite next to us were being unsafe with their campfire (too large, and they were holding branches over the fire until the branches lit up), and yelled and swore at each other all the way up until 1 or 2 AM.
Also, in our site (26) there were no obvious places to put our tent. One open area was not flat, another open area was a bit too close to the campfire for our liking and was covered with lots of small branches (which we ended up removing), and then there was a third area down the trail between our site and another site which was not marked, making it unclear whether the pad belonged to us or the other campers. Those other campers (not the loud ones who I mentioned earlier) ended up walking over to our site to ask us that very question and we said it was okay with us if they just used it. Overall the experience definitely could have been better. It was beautiful though.

Beautiful setting - campsites are tucked in and around the rushing creek. Signs caution against entering the water. Facilities seem like they have aged out and are in disrepair. Perhaps its a temporary measure, but portaloos are stacked in front of locked bathrooms. No drinking water access.

Tanners Flat is located in a fantastic area within a beautiful canyon (Little Cottonwood), but many / most of the campsites are situated in such dense trees that it's difficult to get much of a view of the surroundings. On the positive side, there's a fair amount of room between camp sites, so it's pretty quiet and private. On the not-so-positive side, it seems as though all the bathrooms have been out of commission for sometime, so campers currently only have access to portal potties without sinks. Overall, the primary campsite in Big Cottonwood (Spruces) is easily preferable, but this is still a nice place to stay.

Hey friends, did you know you can reserve really nice canvas tents at Tanners Flat Campground? Just go to https://www.recreation.gov/ to reserve. Tanners Flat is only about 4 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon and it is beautiful! If you’re taking a trailer I recommend site #3,6 or 24. They’re located close to the river so it drowns out the road noise.

The campground and campsite were good overall and there was cell phone service and dumpsters for trash.
The one big negative about our stay here was that there wasn't any water service, which is one of the amenities they list as having. It was temporarily shut down for some reason. I was notified about the problem just 3 days before our reservation date. The permanent restrooms in the campground were all locked. They brought in Honey Bucket portable restrooms that worked but they aren't ideal and they were always out of hand sanitizer.
If the water service had been working, I would have given them 5 stars.

Beautiful mountains and atmosphere and provides great Wasatch range experience. I highly recommend this campground during the summer season. The flush toilets was bot available during our visit due to some repairs.
