What Guests Are Saying
Fruita Campground is a beautiful, family-friendly site nestled among fruit orchards and stunning red cliffs, offering a peaceful atmosphere and excellent hiking opportunities. Clean bathrooms, friendly hosts, and unique amenities like fruit picking contribute to a memorable camping experience. While some sites require improvements for better tent setups and there are occasional issues with flies, overall, visitors appreciate the campground's charm and its proximity to Capitol Reef National Park.

The campground is fantastic! Couldn't ask for a more beautiful convenient location to spend several nights exploring Capitol Reef. The hosts were friendly and helpful, the rangers and their programs were great and informative, and of course the pies were delicious.
The challenge was specifically with site 10 being swampy. We were here 6 nights, and for 4 of them the fire ring area was a boggy marsh that we couldn't use. Previous campers had wisely moved the picnic table onto the paved parking area, or that would've been unusable as well. This site and a couple others close to the river need to be either re-graded or modified to make them fully functional. Until that happens, bring your muck boots and bug spray if you're in site 10. Or pick a site slightly farther from the river, and enjoy!

Very overlooked gem. Site location was great. Hayfield, orchard & cliff rock views. Simply stunning. Nice big paved back in sites. Electric hookups would have made it the best stop on our trip.

I love this campground, and the entire Capitol Reef area. It’s very beautiful. There is a stream running past the campground, with orchards and pastures where a few horses run around and relax. there are a couple of trailheads right close to the campground that lead to stunning views over the entire area. It is not crowded like some of the other national parks, which make it one of my favorite places to go.

I only spent one night here, but wish I had booked a second night to explore the area more. There was no official check in or gate when I arrived, I simply found my spot and sent up camp. Rangers drove through the park a few times during my stay. The restrooms were clean, there was a kitchen sink, but no showers. I definitely enjoyed a peach pie at the Gifford Homestead, and there was a great overlook hike that started right at the campground-when I was there there was a mountain lion warning so I waited until some other hikers started up the trail as the advisement was not to hike alone. The orchards were not open while I was there which was disappointing. Be sure to stop to see the Petroglyphs they were impressive.

It was beautiful! Right off the scenic drive with views of the towering rocks and the horses! Definitely recommend if you want to get pies from the Gifford House too. We rolled out of bed and were in line for pies five minutes later (there was a line starting about 15 minutes before opening time so definitely go early)!

Very nice campground with beautiful scenery. We stayed in the walk in tent camping area which had picnic tables and fire pits assigned to each tent spot. Parking was assigned right next to the camping area and was level. Bathrooms were clean and main ones had flush toilets.
We enjoyed the ranger talk in the evening. Great view of the stars once the moon set!

I LOVE everything about this camp location accept that the individual sites are very close to one another. You will have no privacy from your neighboring campers.
