While we were not able to stay in the campground for our entire trip, I was able to pick up two different cancellation slots during our four nights. We were in loop A one night and it was so, so peaceful… The fact that they don’t allow generators in loop A and B made a bigger difference than I think we realized it would. The bathrooms were all functioning and clean and it was great to have both a water bottle filler and a gray water dump/freshwater source as well. We also stayed in loop C a few days later… The generators were not a major factor as they’re only allowed certain hours. There was one restroom in each of the bathrooms out of order, but that still left one in both of men and women’s room… Same thing, we loved having the water bottle filler on the great water dump… Such a great location so quick to get to the visitor center, the scenic route or any of the trailheads!

Very nice campground with excellent campground hosts. Visitor centre at Capital Reef is well staffed with knowledgable people.
Biggest problem is Restroom facilities in Loop C needs a MAJOR overhaul! It is a dark room and day and night. The hand dryer in the women’s restroom didn’t work and they ask you to keep the main entry door to Restroom closed at all times, but it doesn’t physically close. After doing a major overhaul of the camping site pads, I was disappointed to return to the campground and see nothing had been done to the restroom facilities. It would’ve been a perfect time to renovate when those sites were being renovated!

Absolutely great campground. It was very clean and easy to park our 40 ft camper. The pie and ice cream from the Gifford house is a must. We enjoyed the Hickman Bridge and Capital Gorge Hikes. The Grand Wash is great for a lazy afternoon stroll. Also if you get a chance to volunteer for the night sky testing, do so. We had tons of fun using the instruments and recording our findings, and what better way to give back to our National Park System.

You want to try to get a space on the outside of the campground as the inside spaces, if you have a tent, are mostly dirt which will be mud, as it was for us, if it rains.

CG Host, Gary, was really nice, helpful and good guy. CG bathrooms were clean. Campers were quiet and respectful. No generators was nice feature. Could hike right from CG or within very short drive. Place is just beautiful.

Beautiful campground although the sites are a little close together, but fellow campers were quiet and respectful.

It was very frustrating and disappointing to see the 'Campground Full' sign up the entire time of our stay and yet three unoccupied spots were always unavailable. Two had orange cones blocking them and a sign that said for 'administrative use." Two of the best sites in the camp sat empty, unused, while campers were turned away. The third site was across from the host and used to park a golf cart. An unfortunate example of administrators needs being put ahead of the publics. Unfortunate indeed. Three families were unable to enjoy a camping trip to one of our most beautiful National Parks that week because the the poor management of a very valuable and limited resource.
