Absolutely gorgeous. Right in the heart of Capitol Reef NP. The little shop selling pies from the orchard is only a short walk away and the Visitor's Center one mile down the road. A good central spot to be!

This was our second time camping in Fruita Campground at Capitol Reef N.P. and although the sites don’t offer much privacy, they are close to some trails, the Gifford House (awesome pies), and the bathrooms are clean and convenient. We loved hiking the Cohab Canyon Trail with the trailhead right across the street from the campground and would stay there again in the future. We just wished there were more campsites available so it isn’t a mad dash to reserve one online.

The fact that we can’t use generators made our stay unbearable with height temps in the low nineties, went to bed at 9:30 and couldn’t sleep, both nights were the same, wife said she will refuse to come back ever

Beautiful, comfortable campground but no hookups and no generator use allowed in A and B loop. We were having trouble with our battery in our camper but the volunteer camp “host” wouldn’t let us charge it with our truck or use the electrical box next to us (only for medical equipment) C loop allows generators at certain times but she told us we had to leave “the park” to charge. At least we had charged it enough to get it up and back on the truck. Volunteer camp hosts are usually more helpful and friendly. So be prepared and fully powered and full of water!

We have had an outstanding experience at Fruita campground.
It is perfectly situated to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery, and some hikes are directly accessible from it (notably Cohab canyon).
Our tent site was on the smaller size (but still big enough to pitch a Wawona 6 tent without difficulty). It is flat, with an open view on a field and the mountains. Deer were grazing nearby. A bit of noise came from the amphitheater during evening shows.
We only heard about that the day that we left, but the shop nearby, at walking distance, sells fresh bread and pastries.

Sites were well spaced. It was a nice quiet campground with lots of shade. This kids loved playing in the Fremont River every evening. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Would stay here again!

Beautiful site and close to the Fremont River. Enjoyed the grassy camping area instead of a tent pad. Loved waking up to see deer near our site and walking over to see the horses. So peaceful.

Great campground! It took me a minute to find loop C, but once I did, my campsite was clearly marked and easy to find. I had plenty of space between the other campsites and it was ideal for car camping. The bathrooms had flush toilets and were very clean!
