About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

We enjoyed our stay at the North Bend campgrounds. Facilities were clean and kept clean daily. I found the staff listen to patrons on suggestions regarding facilities such as the bath-house. Stayed on B125 which is paved and helpful to my wife's disabilities in getting around our campsite and to and from the bathhouse. The park should set use restriction for sites B125 and B126 for those with a universal state handicap parking tag, Current use of these sites is on a first come/reservation choice. My wife has a Maryland Handicap Parking tag We always enjoy North Bend and the surrounding rural community.

Very nice well-kept campground and recreation area. Stayed at sight #133 for several nights May 27 thru June 7. Nice large sight not too far from the water. Sight was level with plenty of space.
Bath/showers were clean and well-kept by the maintenance crews, no complaints.
Would certainly stay again.

I've been full time RVing going on 5 years crisscrossing the US and this is absolutely a top 5 park. Massive level sites with a lot of room between sites. Beautifully wooded, great lake, walking trails, activities, and the most helpful staff. I am fully contained so didn't really check out the amenities but I'm convinced they are 5* as the rest of the park I saw was. I was here over the July 4 weekend 2024 and there was a whole lot of activity with a lot of campers and families. Sites with trailers and multiple tents with watercraft and a dozen or more people per site yet I still felt as though I was camping in the wilderness. I envy the people who live close enough to make some long weekend trips to this gem of a park. Put this park on your "must stop here" list.
