About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

I've been full time RVing going on 5 years crisscrossing the US and this is absolutely a top 5 park. Massive level sites with a lot of room between sites. Beautifully wooded, great lake, walking trails, activities, and the most helpful staff. I am fully contained so didn't really check out the amenities but I'm convinced they are 5* as the rest of the park I saw was. I was here over the July 4 weekend 2024 and there was a whole lot of activity with a lot of campers and families. Sites with trailers and multiple tents with watercraft and a dozen or more people per site yet I still felt as though I was camping in the wilderness. I envy the people who live close enough to make some long weekend trips to this gem of a park. Put this park on your "must stop here" list.

Nice, clean park. Family friendly. Stayed in site C180 6/3 - 6/14, 2024. This site needs to be designated as "tent only" or pop-up camper because there are major issues with large trees because there is a back-left bend in the drive. One is right on the edge of the driveway, and the other is only 2' away. There is a fence across the road right in the space where a vehicle needs to swing to make the bend in the drive.

Our favorite camp spot. This year was a little rough though with the bugs. The carpenter ants along the wood barriers were bad this year. And previous occupant of our site dumped some camp fuel near the front of the site. Before I could set up our tent this year we had to pick up and dispose of a large amount of bottle caps and cigarette butts and clear trash out of our fire pit.
Please folks when you use these campgrounds please take all your trash with you and dispose of cigarettes more appropriately (fires not needed)
